Preschool for 2-Year-Olds in Woodstock

Half-Day Preschool Fostering Learning Through Natural Curiosity

The second year of a child’s life is pivotal for their development, having an immense impact on their academic and social growth. This time is when the foundation of language, mathematics, and social skills such as communication and empathy are formed. It also fosters strong children-caregiver relationships that will shape future interactions with learning down the road.

At Ivybrook Academy Woodstock, we provide our two-year-old PreSchoolers with the opportunity to learn and develop crucial social skills as well as foster strong foundations for their growth. Our stimulating environment allows children to explore and have fun while discovering more about themselves and the world around them through child-initiated activities.

We strive to nurture the incredibly imaginative minds of our two-year-old students through a variety of activities such as art, pretend play, sensory skill building blocks, and more. Our classrooms are designed with child choice in mind so that our students can take part in self-directed play and small groups; all while being encouraged by our teachers to understand how their actions will affect others around them, fostering an environment for independence.

By creating a nourishing learning atmosphere, we are paving the way for our children to experience success in school and life.

Nurturing Social and Emotional Development at Ivybrook Academy Woodstock

At Ivybrook Academy Woodstock, we recognize the critical importance of social and emotional development in young children. Our preschool program for 2-year-olds is specifically designed to prioritize the nurturing of these essential skills, alongside fostering a love for learning. Through our holistic approach, we aim to create a supportive and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.

Key Aspects of Our Social and Emotional Development Focus:

  1. Building Strong Relationships: Our experienced teachers are dedicated to cultivating strong relationships with each child, as well as fostering connections among peers. By providing opportunities for collaborative play and group activities, we encourage children to build positive relationships and develop essential social skills, such as cooperation and friendship.

  2. Developing Empathy and Understanding: We believe in teaching children to empathize with others and understand different perspectives. Through guided discussions, storytelling, and role-playing exercises, we help children develop empathy, compassion, and an appreciation for diversity.

  3. Enhancing Communication and Language Skills: Effective communication is essential for healthy social interactions. Our curriculum incorporates activities that promote language development, including storytelling, music, and dramatic play. By engaging in meaningful conversations and expressing themselves creatively, children strengthen their communication skills and build confidence in expressing their thoughts and feelings.

  4. Promoting Self-Regulation and Emotional Resilience: Learning to manage emotions and regulate behavior is a crucial aspect of social and emotional development. Through mindfulness exercises, relaxation techniques, and problem-solving activities, we empower children to recognize and cope with their emotions in a healthy way. By fostering emotional resilience, we help children navigate challenges and build confidence in their ability to overcome obstacles.

  5. Setting a Solid Foundation for Academic Success: Research has shown that social and emotional skills are strong predictors of academic achievement. By prioritizing social and emotional development in our preschool program, we lay the groundwork for future academic success. Children who are emotionally resilient, socially competent, and empathetic are better equipped to engage in learning and succeed in school and beyond.

Our 2-Year-Old Private Preschool Program

We designed our two-year-old program with curiosity in mind. Our young learners are exposed to a variety of activities that stimulate their imaginations and aid them as they explore the world around them, all while learning about themselves. Through customized independent and group assignments, our students become immersed in an educational atmosphere that is thoughtfully integrated for maximum development potential.

We recognize the importance of a strong educational foundation. That’s why our hybrid curriculum combines innovative early learning strategies with three innovative approaches: Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and Theory of Multiple Intelligences. Our toddler Preschool program empowers children during their formative years by providing them both knowledge and skill sets to ensure academic success as they develop.
